How the vaccination works
At VaccinDirekt, the HPV vaccine is offered to protect against several types of HPV that can cause cancer and genital warts. The vaccine is given according to the recommended number of doses based on age, and protection develops after completing the full vaccination series.
Who should get vaccinated against HPV?
The HPV vaccine is recommended for both women and men:
Children and adolescents - vaccination is part of the national immunization program and is given during school age.
Young adults and adults - vaccination is valuable even later in life and can reduce the risk of both cancer and genital warts.
People at increased risk - for example, those with a new or multiple partners. It’s never too late to get vaccinated.

Why it is important to get vaccinated against HPV
HPV infections can lead to serious and sometimes lifelong consequences – cell changes that may develop into cancer if not detected in time. Getting vaccinated through VaccinDirekt offers a safe and effective way to prevent HPV-related diseases for both men and women.
High infection rate - a major public health issue
HPV is very common: about 4 out of 5 people are infected at some point in their lives. Many infections clear on their own, but some virus strains can cause cell changes and increase the risk of cancer.
Cell changes and cancer can take time to develop
HPV infections can progress slowly over decades, from genital warts and cell changes to cancers of the cervix, mouth and throat, or anal region. Regular screening can detect changes early - vaccination helps prevent them from developing in the first place.

When should you get vaccinated?
It’s best to get vaccinated as early as possible, preferably before sexual activity or before a new partner - but the vaccine is also effective for adults. If you have already started the series, it’s important to complete all doses for strong protection.
Vaccination schedule
Ages 9-14: Two doses, at least 6 months apart.
Ages 15 and older: Three doses. The first and second doses are given at least 1 month apart, and the third dose at least 6 months after the first.
The vaccine not only protects against cancer but also against genital warts (condyloma), improving both physical comfort and quality of life.
It’s never too late to get vaccinated
Although the best effect is achieved before sexual activity begins, unvaccinated adults can still benefit from the HPV vaccine. It can help reduce future risks, especially when having a new partner or increased exposure.
